Can I Receive Incontinence Products Through Vermont Medicaid?

The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) includes the following products in its coverage of disposable incontinence products:

  • Diapers,
  • Briefs (Either Pull-Up Or Pull-On),
  • Under Pads (i.e., Chuxs),
  • Underwear Liner,
  • Guard Or Shield.

Coverage is limited to 300 disposable incontinence products (any combination of the above) per month for beneficiaries aged three and up. Any quantity over the limit of 300 disposable incontinence products, as described above, will require prior authorization for this age group.

To be approved for incontinence supplies under Vermont Medicaid, you must have the following items:

  • Must be enrolled in a Vermont Medicaid plan.
  • Must have a qualifying medical need, such as stress incontinence, spinal cord injury, etc.
  • The estimated amount of supplies needed per day (i.e., three pairs of protective underwear per day and one pair per night).
  • The medical reason for needing supplies (certificate of medical necessity).

What Is Vermont Medicaid?

Medicaid is a government health insurance program for Vermonters. It’s for eligible seniors 65 or older, people who are blind or disabled, children, pregnant women, and parents. Medicaid covers most medical care and services, such as doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, vision and dental care, long-term care in a nursing home or at home, physical therapy, and more.

To be eligible for Vermont Medicaid, you must be:

  • A resident of the state of Vermont,
  • A U.S. national, citizen, permanent resident, or legal alien in need of health care/insurance assistance,
  • Whose financial situation would be characterized as low-income or meager income.

You must also be one of the following:

  • Pregnant, or
  • Be responsible for a child 18 years of age or younger, or
  • Blind, or
  • Have a disability or a family member in your household with a disability, or
  • Be 65 years of age or older.

Can I Get Incontinence Products Through Active Life Medical Products?
